Citizen Scientists Are Us

Welcome Citizen Scientists! Here at The Daily Polluter we value two things above all else: the environment and the truth. The path to both lies through community.

What is The Daily Polluter?
A collaborative effort to monitor the disastrous change our climate is enduring. Inspired by the appearance of one particular anomaly, the so-called Black Cloud, we hope to uncover other anomalies in the future.

What is the Black Cloud?
The real answer is that NOBODY KNOWS! That is why we are asking for YOUR help! To read about the first appearance of the Black Cloud and the earth-shaking history of our investigations, please start at the beginning of our archive page.

Who runs The Daily Polluter?
For the sake of neutrality, the editors of The Daily Polluter choose to remain anonymous. The two resident experts are Penelope Woods of Xylon Corp. and Maury Green of First Breath.

What can I do to help?
Submit reports! If you see any strange environmental phenomena, contribute with our easy-to-use form, and then read what others have written. As a Citizen Scientist you can contribute to the knowledge database that will help us get to the bottom of this mystery and do something about pollution!

Each perspective represented here is unique, but equally valued. Enjoy the change!

Thanks,
Your Editors.

Black Cloud Site Blacked Out

The shadowy BID Lab has registered the domain BlackCloud.org. Why? That is where the dispute starts. We assume the site features exciting data collected by the air-quality sensors known as "PuffTrons" and results of research into the mysterious atmospheric phenomenon known as the Black Cloud. However the site is hidden behind a password-protected page.

We condemn this lock-down, since it stifles any effort to put high-end sensors into the hands of Citizen Scientists. Black Cloud Project team-leader Greg Niemeyer said the following in response to our requests for information; "The Daily Polluter will be notified when we make our results available to the public."

The Daily Polluter resident experts First Breath and Xylon apparently do not have any privileged access to the site either. Xylon claims that the whole sensor story was a hoax, and First Breath claims to have sent a volunteer named Maury Green into the field to track down any remaining sensors that may still be transmitting. Wish him luck!

In the meantime, please visit BlackCloud.org and see if you can crack the code of the "Security Verification Procedure" and gain access to the BID Lab's secrets!
